Insights # 61 – Reflections as 2012 comes to an end

Wow – lots happening in a short time frame! Hannukah,12-12-12, the Solstice, Christmas, a full moon this week, then New Year’s!

Before you go bounding excitedly into 2013, pause, breathe, and reflect. Set a timer for 5 minutes and write a list of all the things you accomplished this past week. Big or small, significant or seemingly not, create a list. Then thank yourself out loud. Give gratitude for all you’ve been and done. All of it.

Then expand.

This week reflect on the differences you made in 2012. Projects started, tasks completed, friendship developed, health gained, love shared, moments experienced. Then thank yourself for your awareness of the BE-ing that is you.

Fold the best of 2012 into next year. Use your joys and accomplishments to step solidly into your creation of 2013!

The silence of the early morning. A gift I give myself for reflection to ease my way into each day. It is very dark this morning on the eve of The Solstice, and here in the Northern Hemisphere, there is the promise of light increasing. It is noticeable as the sun will begin rising a few minutes earlier and setting a few minutes later each day. On this 2012 Solstice, the world collectively awakens and moves into a gentler and more conscious way of living, a mindful approach to being. And each of us contributes.

How will you mark this day? Will it be with anger or peace? Doom or hope? Lack or abundance? Fear or love?

Choose.
May you find the light in the world today, and reflect it.

Musing by Suze: Insights # 59 – The Gifts You Give Yourself

What an incredible gift…
I am resident at a Spiritual Retreat Centre nestled into the pines in the foothills of Central Alberta for the month of December. This morning I wondered how I would notice 12-12-12, what I would I do to bring the energy of this date into my life. I gifted myself a quiet “sit” on a bench in the woods at 12:12 pm for 12 minutes, alongside a river. It is -18C – for those of you who only know the F way of measuring temperature, it is just very cold! As I sat beside the river marveling at the bubbling energy of the water that wasn’t frozen, and noticing the tracks of various animals who frequent the river valley for survival I became really, really aware. The river’s energy, despite all of the frozen stillness around it, is always teeming with life, nurturing and calming and just being.

My attention was drawn to the sound of the traffic on the highway – the cold, crisp air was a conduit for the sound that usually is absorbed by the trees. I thought about how “busy doing” all of those people were, and congratulated myself on just “quietly being” – and then I realized. This quiet place of being, alive with nourishing energy is always available for me to gift to myself – even when I am caught up in the busy-ness of life. Quiet, reflective moments are always available. I knew this, but with this gift I came to know it in a deeper way. I headed into the lodge with the warmth of the fireplace and a cup of camomille tea.

Suze spoke at the Independent Publishers Association of Canada

Suze Casey & her book, Belief Re-patterningThis morning, I went to the Independent Publishers Association of Canada IPAC meeting http://www.ipac-calgary.ca/ and had the honour of hearing the guest speaker, Suze Casey.

After a 20 year teaching career, Suze followed her passion by opening her practice, Belief Re-patterning, based in Calgary. http://www.beliefrepatterning.com Suze also went from being a writer, to a self-published author to a published author with Hay House in April of 2012. Her book is called Belief Re-patterning®: the Amazing Technique for “Flipping the Switch” to Positive Thoughts. https://suzecasey.com/ Suze also hosts a show on HayHouse Radio.com every Thursday that boasts over 20,000 listeners per show. http://www.hayhouseradio.com/hosts.php?author_id=728
As John Breeze who introduced her so eloquently stated, “You don’t meet Suze, you experience her.”

Suze introduced us first to Belief Re-Patterning. One question she posed was, “If you spoke to your friends the way you spoke to yourself, how many friends would you have?”

Our subconscious can sabotage us if we do not get it under control. Suze emphasized how if you are not getting what you want in your life, you are not saying things correctly. For example, feel the difference between these two statements:

1. I am going to work toward getting this project done.
2. I am doing this project.

Suze quoted the sage wisdom of Yoda, “Do or do not, there is no try.”

Another thing she reinforced is the importance of surrounding yourself with people that support you on your path. They are the ones helping to keep you on purpose and aligned with your passion. It is so important to treat these people like gold.

Suze also stressed the importance of being “you.” It is important to not try to be like anyone else. Only you can do what you do. If you do what you are passionate about, you will be on purpose and on path and it will feel really good.

Suze’s talk was absolutely uplifting and exactly what I needed to hear for keeping me on path for following my passions. Suze truly walks her talk. She is entertaining, authentic, and inspiring. I am so looking forward to reading her books. Musings by Suze Insights #58: Oh Those Family Dynamics

If there was one thing about a family member you could change, what would it be?
Write it down, and then find a way to be more that way yourself.
For example, if you wish your son would be more considerate,
what can you do to be more considerate to yourself, right now?
You wish your partner would be more loving, be more loving toward yourself.
You wish your daughter would be gentler with herself, be gentler with yourself.

So often our family members are acting as mirrors,
and what is rubbing us the wrong way in their behaviour is simply a reminder for us to bring more of that “special something” into our lives.

The holidays can be a time of increased stress in relationships.
You canl re-pattern the “spin cycle” you find yourself in with your family,
and suggest ways of moving through the holidays in a loving way – toward yourself first!
