Focus on the Olives

I can focus on the rain. I can focus on the sunshine. OR I can focus on the olives!
I get to choose. Minute to moment to breath, each decision builds the landscape of my life.
I give myself permission to focus on and really absorb the wonderful treasures of this day. Sleeping in. A hot shower. Great conversations with dear friends. The amazing rainbow. Rain dripping off the gum nuts on the eucalyptus tree outside my window. The jar of homegrown, homemade olives. A piece of cheese, a loaf of sourdough bread, a bottle of Aussie Shiraz and the sounds of one of Australia’s finest songwriters practicing downstairs. I’m blessed, and I know it.
Where are you placing your focus? Be conscious of what you are absorbing.

I’m building the landscape of my life. A life well-lived, much enjoyed, and spaciously loved.

I get to choose for me – and you get to choose for you.

What is YOUR Relationship with Money?

I passed her cash earnings to my granddaughter and saw the look of excitement in her eyes. Suddenly I was a young teenager myself, transported magically to the moment our neighbours paid me for caring for their yard. I recalled the thrill of earning my first real money. The entrepreneur I was to become was awakened that day – a half century ago.

Since then I’ve had part time jobs, a fulltime profession, and built a couple of businesses. I’ve bought and sold properties, been a landlord and a homeowner. I’ve earned a couple of degrees, co-parented 3 kids, I was married and divorced (twice), racked up significant credit card debt, and then found my way clear. I’ve borrowed and lent, earned and spent, invested well and took some risks – some favourable and some not. Along the way I’ve learned a LOT about my own beliefs and behaviours about money.

Our relationship with money lasts our entire lifetime, and it deserves attention and conversation along the way – yet most people have real challenges talking about money. It can stir up some deep emotions.

We all have behaviours and beliefs that create and maintain our relationship with money.

Some of these patterns are supportive – and some are not. Your Financial Foundation is too important to be left to old, unsupportive patterns, patterns you may have inherited from your family, or developed when you were younger. Those old patterns no longer reflect your current reality, and worse yet, they are likely holding you back.

You may find yourself in a new stage of your life – buying a home, kids going away to school, nearing retirement, landing or loosing a job, getting married or ending a partnership – every life change brings about new ways of being in relationship with your finances. You are worthy of financial stability regardless of your age and stage. You deserve freedom from whatever heaviness you may be experiencing around money.

Forgive yourself. The way things have been is not the way they have to stay.

Open to the possibility of a more productive and supportive relationship with your finances.

Decide to transform some of those old beliefs you know are holding you back.

Try on more supportive behaviours about how you earn, spend, borrow, invest.

Acknowledge your financial accomplishments, and build on your strengths.

Your relationship with money will improve – it is an investment in your future well being.

Now as friends are retiring I’ve recognized I’m entering another stage and phase of my life that requires a review of my financial foundation. I reached out to Maura Shaftoe, a Behavioural Cash Flow Specialist. Together we created a practical, effective and empowering home study course to support you in understanding your behaviours and beliefs around finances, and transform them into something that supports you and your lifestyle – at every age and stage. Skip Forward Save Your Light

Are there are some things you wish you could “magic sprinkle dust” away? You know, the kinds of things that are taking up too much room in your thoughts, keeping you awake at night, causing stress and anxiety.

Belief Re-patterning isn’t magic, but it does create a new perspective allowing the spinning to settle, the chaos to calm, and the confusion to clear. How? By simply shifting our focus.

It isn’t about pretending the tough stuff away, or spiritually bypassing the problem. Re-patterning allows you to reset your mindset. It provides you with a fresh view and the ability to tap into your knowing, intuition and personal wisdom to find a way through whatever has been going on. And there is a LOT going on.

I love to use Daylight Savings as a reset time. Most of the Canadian provinces and many states in the US are “springing forward” this weekend, shifting time forward by an hour. Let’s use this collective forward momentum to shift the energy of our lives forward. Collectively we are skipping an hour of time to create longer evenings where we can relax and enjoy the sunshine. We aren’t really “saving” daylight, we are simply shifting the light to a time that creates more ease for more people, and less stress on some of our resources.

I’m choosing to shift my perspective and shine the light where it can bring more ease into my life. There is some dark and heavy energy in our world, and I’m not suggesting we can “disappear” it just with our thoughts, but we can redirect our energy into something more useful for all. Finding our light through compassion. Raising our vibration with gratitude. Creating ease with increased kindness and flow with greater understanding.

So just like we are “springing past” a whole hour, I’ll be springing past some of the things that don’t serve me. Judgement, anger, frustration, petty annoyance, fear – I’m placing these emotions in the hour that is disappearing. These emotions don’t define me, and they don’t make the world a better place, so I am leaving them in that hour. With the sweep of the hour hand on each of my analog clocks, and the push of the button on my digital clocks I consciously choose to transform my emotions through the quality of my thoughts.

And as the clock jumps into the next hour, I choose to increase my compassion, I magnify my gratitude, expand my kindness and multiply my flow. I may not exactly know how, but I’m wired to learn and grow – and I have done a ton of things in my life without knowing how.

I forgive myself for believing I need to hang on to Judgement, anger, frustration, petty annoyance or fear.

I give myself permission to increase my compassion, magnify my gratitude, expand my kindness and multiply my flow.

I choose to increase my light.

I am free to do that intentionally tonight as easily as the time shifts between 12:59 and 2am.

I know how to shift the clock, and I’m committed to shifting my perspective.

I am expanding my compassion, gratitude, kindness and flow. This supports me, my family and friends and ripples out to the world.

I am grateful for my focused intention to create a kinder and more positive world, beginning with myself.

on sets the path. Collectively we can shift the energy of our world. Each of us claiming our light makes the world brighter. I’m going to sleep tonight with clear and focused intention. Energetically I’ll be shining at 12:59 am Sunday morning, and I’ll be shining even more brightly at 2 am. Intentionally. Let’s do this.

Everything is just taking a little bit longer

Gratitude that I can fly to Ontario and visit my 97 year old aunt this week. Grateful for a visit of tea and card playing – I know these visits are so precious. I could let all the challenges get me down, but I choose instead to expand my patience and focus on gratitude.

There was just an announcement that there was a power outage at the airport last night – and the airline staff are asking for everyone’s understanding. I’m grateful the power is back on and the airport is as open as it can be.

Everyone, including myself is doing the best they can in the moment.

forgive myself for believing I need to get upset when things don’t go according to my plan.

I give myself permission to expand my patience and gratitude and flow with whatever comes my way.

I can get upset or I can expand my patience and gratitude and be in the flow of life. I choose to use this situation to expand my patience and gratitude.

I am free to expand my patience and gratitude as I thank the flight attendants at the gate and on the plane. They are having a challenging day recovering from the power outage and I can help with my patience and gratitude.

know how to be patient and grateful – I helped raise 3 kids!

Today I am consciously expanding my patience and gratitude – and encouraging others to do the same!

I’m grateful for my ability to choose my response to any situation!

Where will you have the opportunity to expand your patience and gratitude today?

Our world can use all the understanding, patience and gratitude we all can create!

Thanks for being part of the solution by showing up with your patience and gratitude wherever you are, whatever the circumstances.

The people around you may very well have had a power outage recently.

Suze
